EMERGENCY & URGENT CARE

FOR URGENT MEDICAL ISSUES, PLEASE GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM OR CALL 911.

For orthopedic urgent care, you can visit M.S.J. Today or call them at (831) 648-7265.

For mild to moderate injuries or illnesses, you can go to the nearest Doctors on Duty or MoGo Urgent Care location.

Montage Health 24/7 eVisits offers convenient urgent care for many common health concerns that don’t require an in-person examination. Set up your eVisit account, answer a few questions, and within an hour, a healthcare provider will provide your diagnosis and treatment plan. Website: www.montagehealth.org/care-treatment/telemedicine.

Please note, if you are seen at any of the above facilities, inform them who your new PCP will be. In certain instances, it may be necessary to see a doctor instead of a midlevel provider for prescription renewals. In such cases, consider setting up an online telehealth appointment with a physician, visiting Doctors on Duty, or going to the ER for prompt assistance.

ADDITIONAL SUGGESTIONS

If you have a future appointment with a new primary care physician, it's worth reaching out to that office to ask about the possibility of scheduling a sooner appointment.

If you are currently under the care of a specialist, ask if your health concern or medication is within their scope of care. If not, request a recommendation for the best course of action.

If you're running low on medication, reach out to your pharmacist to discuss obtaining a temporary refill.  Ask if they have any recommendations or tips on locating a healthcare provider who can assist with managing your prescriptions in the short or long term.

For assistance with scheduling a new patient appointment with a PCP, reach out to your health plan's member services department for help. You can locate the contact details on the back of your insurance card or on your health plan's website. Keep in mind that several private health plans provide telehealth visits and a 24-hour nurse line for medical advice.

ADDITIONAL TELEHEALTH INFORMATION

Telehealth visits now cover a wide range of healthcare services, including primary care, wellness screenings, evaluations for new or chronic health conditions, and medication refills when indicated. During a virtual appointment, you can expect personalized care, including an evaluation, care plan, and potential recommendations for lifestyle modifications, specialist referrals, treatment options, or orders for testing. To schedule a virtual appointment, you will need access to a smartphone, computer, or tablet with an internet connection. In cases where a video call is not feasible, a virtual appointment over the phone may also be possible. It's worth noting that there are many telehealth providers, and the suggestions listed above are intended to serve as a helpful starting point. If interested, you are encouraged to investigate the various available choices.

The Department of Health and Human Services operates a fantastic website, Telehealth.HHS.gov, offering valuable information, resources, and guidance for telehealth patients. It covers everything from what you should know, how to prepare, what to expect, and much more!
